Hosack Elementary School
Services: Construction Management
Client: North Allegheny School District
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Project Cost: $6.3 Million
Constructed in the 1970s as an "open concept" school, Hosack
Elementary featured classroom spaces arranged around a central core
with no subdividing walls. Although the community had grown accustomed
to the open structure, they recognized that some degree of separation
was necessary to suit today's educational approach.
As construction managers, we helped the district complete the project
with cost-efficiency in mind. Our services included
- developing a recovery schedule that got the project back on track for an on-time opening.
- applying our value engineering expertise to find opportunities for cost-savings without compromising quality.
The project included a complete renovation, including new separation
walls. The facility was also expanded to meet the district's
programming requirements. The additions included a new multi-purpose
room, administrative offices, kitchen, and five new
classrooms.
The project also provided a major improvement to the site by adding a
drop-off loop, hard and soft play areas, and landscaping.
